Do not “Throw it away”
Motion Poster Series + Static Print Adaptations
“Throw it away” is one of the most common phrases in the world, and it is also one of the most misleading. It implies an exit from the system, when in reality there is no exit. There is only elsewhere.
What if we take that phrase literally, and refuse to let it lie to us anymore?
We produce more than 430 million tonnes of plastic globally every year, and less than 10% of it is ever recycled. A large share of the rest doesn’t vanish, it moves. It sits in a landfill, drifts down a river, breaks into fragments in a field, or ends up in the ocean, where an estimated 8 million tonnes of plastic arrive annually.
None of that plastic goes “away”. It goes somewhere. The word “away” is doing something quietly dishonest in our everyday language, it lets us treat disposal as disappearance.

Here’s the hidden layer: what if we kept our own plastic waste within our own premises, instead of sending it away?
Not as punishment, as proximity. If the bottle, the bag, the wrapper stayed in view instead of disappearing into a bin and out of memory, the downstream consequence of using it would stop being abstract. We would be the “away” it was sent to. That’s the quiet ask beneath the campaign: trade the comfort of distance for the honesty of witnessing what we produce.
